Trying not to overreact, but Queen & Slim was damn good. Really enjoyed their journey. Feels like a mini miracle to have three great films—Neighborhood, Knives, Queen & Slim—all arriving in the same week, all from big studios, all for adults. Queen & Slim looks like a film that beats you over the head with its racial politics and presents more of an idea of Black love with pretty cinematography than really being about it.
