Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has finally been unveiled to its first audience and fans. It’s the end of an era. Early reactions to the film have been trickling in after Monday’s Hollywood premiere, and although official reviews are embargoed until Wednesday. The first public reactions have been positive and emotional.

The Hollywood Reporter’s Ryan Parker called the film amazing and added last jedi haters will be very pleased. Vanity Fair’s Anthony Breznican tweeted “When people talk about Star Wars, they talk about their childhoods. Their best memories. The people they loved and shared it with.

The Rise Of Skywalker brings back all those feelings. And then some. And Fandango’s Erik Davis tweeted Epic. All of it. The Rise of Skywalker is a terrific finale that is just stuffed with so much of everything. Action, adventure — answers, — humor, heart, love, and grit. The Rise of Skywalker’ closes out the Skywalker Saga, the grand story that started in 1977 with George Lucas Star Wars.

The franchise went onto encompass nine films, including Lucas’ prequel trilogy (1999-2005) as well as the current sequel trilogy that launched in 2015. As for the premiere night itself, it was emotional to say the least. The big night saw a host of stars attend including director J. J. Abrams, who gave a heartfelt thanks to Disney’s Bob Iger and Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy.

Others in attendance included Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac with many of those parts of the franchise speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about the emotions behind closing out this iconic franchise. Billy Dee Williams, who reprises the role of Lando Calrissian in Rise of Skywalker, said it was very interesting and “a lot of fun” to revisit the character of the iconic smuggler adding that when he got the call to come back he “jumped” at the chance.

Todd Fisher, brother of Carrie, told he was “little afraid” to watch the film as he had been told it was very “emotional” and that he had trouble watching his sister in ‘The Last Jedi:’ Iger also spoke about the end of the era saying, And Boyega, who plays Finn in the franchise, echoed the sentiments of many on the carpet, saying “it’s goodbye for now. “‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ opens Friday.
