The story revolves around Jake Turner (Hartley). He’s a best-selling writer who is forced to return home for Christmas in order to “settlement” his estranged mother’s estate, as per the Netflix synopsis. As he cleans in the home, Jake discovers a diary. We discover that it holds information from his past and from a different person: Rachel (Doss). This “scheming young woman” is looking for her mother’s biological father, and the answers she is seeking could be found in the diary. Both will have to confront her previous.
