Mo’Nique and Daniels’ new collaboration comes months after the duo publicly buried the hatchet after a years-long feud over the actor’s allegations that she was censored in Hollywood for failing to promote her 2009 film Precious during the season of awards. Recently widowed Emma Leeden (Mo’Nique) details the loss of her family to a gruesome break-in in her new book “Invasion”. To generate press, Emma agrees to a staged reading by 19-year-old Sky Brown in Emma’s now fortified home.

“The Reading” marks the first project Hicks and Daniels have collaborated on in over a decade. The two previously worked together on the award-winning film Precious, for which Mo won an Oscar. The couple had a falling out over Mo’Nique’s alleged reluctance to promote the film and she accused Daniels of blackmailing her in Hollywood.
