In the trailer, we observe how the relationship of Emily ( Dynevor ) and Luke ( Ehrenreich ) is likely to lead them to reveal their lives in secret, but her rise will place her in the wrath of everyone who has longed to be in that job.

Both hide their relationship to their colleagues, however, problems arise when Emily is promoted and then becomes Luke’s boss. Her jealousy and resentment threaten to destroy the bond. With Fair Play, Dynevor enters the world of film, putting aside costumes from the past and immersing himself in the thrilling realm of poker.

The filming was conducted throughout Eastern Europe, where interior sets were constructed in order to have more control over production. The film premiered at Toronto Film Festival. Fair Play was release on Netflix on 6 October 2023.

The director chose Phoebe Dynevor and Alden Ehrenreich as the main characters seeking actors with no experience who could perform the emotional and intimate scenes. Filming was conducted within Eastern Europe, where interior sets were constructed to allow more control over the production.
