Shirin was brutal to Leila as she was lesbian and during a Thanksgiving celebration, she exiled her and her friend out. The Persian Version release on 20th October 20, 2023.

While at home visiting her grandma (Bella Warda), Leila learns a secret that compelled Shirin along with Ali Reza to leave Iran.

In a bid to write her next screenplay (a framing device that is to be conceptually over-wrought), Leila asks her grandmother to recount what happened. “The Persian Version” takes the opposite route and covers a variety of moments in Shirin’s life as a mother in the 1980s who crafted herself as she raised Leila and her brothers, and even earlier in the time of Shirin growing to be a newlywed in the 1960s Iran.
