In the film, Awkwafina (Shang-Chi) plays an imaginary character an aspiring teenager who is from Queens (New York) that, along and her entire family attempts to face life’s common challenges in the most effective possible manner. The same issues which every young adult has to face. This story loosely draws off the life of the actress and comedian Nora Lum, known professionally as Awkwafina.
It follows the mishaps of a fictionalized portrayal of its main character, a 20-something who of Asian origin who grew up in Queens, New York who is trying to find work as an independent person and make the transition to adulthood, however, she’s not proficient at doing it. The character has accompanied on the journey by her dad Wally (BD Wong) who has been widowed when she was just four years old young, her grandma (Lori Tan Chann), and her odd cousin Edmund.
