Miles Warren Slugger’s debut novel is a measured examination of a well-known storyline. Two people with a common past yearn for respect acceptance, and love however, the oppressive boundaries of hyper-masculinity keep the two from seeking it out. Instead, they compete for supremacy, a struggle that engulfs their lives with violent undercurrents. Warren is interested in understanding the path they take.

Bruiser is a story about toxic masculinity and the impact it has on family and fatherhood. The film is the story of Darious a teen of 14 who is exploring how far he can go in manhood by having tense conversations with his strict, but affectionate father Malcom and Porter an alcoholic who is a magnet for Darious. But, once Darius discovers that Porter is not who he claims to be the two of them will be split between two men who were the mentors to his character.
When Darious discovers that Porter is not who he claims to be and identifies, he finds himself in an argument between the two men who could split his family and jeopardize his safety. The film features Trevente Rhodes Shamier Anderson Jalyn Hall as well as Shinelle Azoroh. Ryder Picture Company, Lyrical Media, Silent R Management, and Toula67 Entertainment are producing the film.
