The plot centers around a character called Marco Mejia, a queer person who believes that his professional life is stagnant until he is introduced to the makeup magnate industry. The company isn’t falling, it’s plummeting like it’s being taken over by the inside. In denial of letting that take place, Madolyn hires Marco right from high school to serve as her summer intern.

The position gives Marco his first chance to learn what he would like to get out of his life, who he actually is, and what being gay is to him, and also helps Madolyn relaunch her renowned, but old-fashioned beauty brand.
