We had a chat with the cast in Netflix’s Rome headquarters and they explained to us – with no spoilers how they stepped in the roles of their characters, and what their most loved Christmas customs are, from getting drunk with their cousins and relatives, to sleeping in pajamas on the 26th of December, among leftovers from earlier in the year, and finally, an unforgettable French Christmas that was celebrated by Nicolas Maupas who admitted that he would rather eat Italian dishes for Christmas on the table.

Every Christmas tells the same tale: “and your loved one?”. In a bid to avoid all the awkward questions regarding her relationship status, Gianna is devising a strategy to find a man who will accompany her to Christmas dinner, and in just 25 days.

After being in a relationship for three years, the end of a relationship that was not of her choice, Gianna works as a doctor who has an impressive career after all having a family to back her, a job she enjoys, and solid friendships. However, none of that is anything of significance as Christmas Eve approaches and your mother invites you to the table with her children because you’re the sole person who isn’t married and has children.

Gianna has a nursing job as a solo nurse in Chioggia. A few days later, shocked by yet another round of questions she decides to tell her family. She declares she is engaged and vows to introduce her new spouse at the Christmas dinner. Gianna really believed that she was in a great position, with three friends and an occupation as a nurse she loves. But Christmas isn’t concerned about the job you have. In the Christmas season, everything is for families and couples. And Gianna has no personal family.
