The comedy is set to follow Mavis Beaumont, who is a single, plus-sized African-American trying to rebuild her life after breaking up with an affair. But, of course, she doesn’t be able to do it on her own. She has a lot of supporters who will help her along this road.

In order to increase the amount of comedy, Netflix has partnered with A24 and comedian Michelle Buteau to develop and introduce a brand new comedy series named Survival of the Thickest. Sanchez-Writzel has been involved in projects such as My Name Is Earl, New Girl, Love Bites, and many others. As we said the show will draw inspiration from Buteau’s autobiography composed of essays that bear the same title.
