The actor was under scrutiny for three years due to allegations that he had shown a “pattern of verbal and physical conduct” on set that frightened the crew and cast. Garlin along with Sony Pictures Television eventually reached an agreement in common sense which called for his removal as a member of the Goldbergs. Garlin was the character of the patriarch, Murray Goldberg, in the series when it premiered in the year 2013.

Garlin was removed from “The Goldbergs” in December after an investigation into the comedian’s behavior prior to the show following allegations of conduct that was not his. Variety exclusively stated that Garlin will remain on the show the show’s Season 9 through the use of off-camera dialog from earlier episodes, as well as deleted outtakes that were not used and previously shot videos of Garlin. According to someone who is familiar with the production, the official details for Garlin’s role have yet to be revealed, but Garlin is likely to be eliminated from the show.

With Garlin being forced to leave the show in 2021 after concerns about his conduct on the set, Murray’s fate was in the balance. Murray was absent for the majority of the Goldberg of Season 9 as a result with the only glimpse that he made in the finale only a small, insignificant picture of him attending Adam’s ( Sean Giambrone ) high school graduation. The new season will start by jumping forward in time, which is set on newlyweds Erica ( Hayley Orrantia ) and Geoff ( Sam Lerner ) having their first child.
The probe was prompted by many years of complaints. In several instances, crew members reported that they had experienced instances in which Garlin employed inappropriate terms. In one instance, Garlin was allegedly found to be scolding the couple that worked in the show. Even though she was less prominent in the Goldbergs in the past few seasons, there was still uncertainty about how the sitcom was going to deal with Murray’s absence for the duration of her.
