DCI Vera Stanhope is called to an unassuming country lane, where the body of a man has been killed in a crash with a vehicle. When examining the scene it is clear that this was not an accident but is beyond a hit-and- run.

Vera realizes that the person at fault is a well-known market trader, so she goes to his stand to begin making sense of who our man really is and discover why someone would wish for him to be dead.As the investigation gets underway, Vera learns that our charming chappy is a complicated persona. Arrogant, antagonistic and capable of obtaining what he wants. But did it all have a price? Secrets. Lies.

Vera lives with the traumatic memory of being separated from her family when she was a toddler. There have been some “After the finale” pics floating around, from the season’s original ending. They show Vera, Franky, Bridget and the baby in a surprisingly heteronormative nursery, and are all kinds of cute.

‘Episode one in series 10 is called Blood Will Tell,’ she began. ‘We filmed some of the scenes at the Tan Hill Inn at Swaledale in North Yorkshire which is the highest pub in Britain. It also features an appearance from the Great North Air Ambulance.
