The plot revolves around American businessman Jerry Buss (played by John C. Reilly Licorice pizz) who, tired of the monotony of excessive money and not knowing how to spend the money, chooses to invest in the Los Angeles Lakers, clear his portfolio, and sell it off or take out a loan through his wife’s ex. The show will focus on the time period that follows the Finals from 1980 to 1984.
This is why Adam McKay, responsible for the Netflix film Do not look up, was asked to adapt the essay for the smaller screen. It’s next March that Lakers fans can watch the documentary which will inform fans about one of the most storied families of the NBA and also discover the workings that comprised one of the more impressive teams ever and that’s the Lakers from the 1980s.
