Capitani was the very first show we’ve seen that was created and filmed in the tiny European state of Luxembourg. The main character is Inspector Luc Capitani. He is in the process of researching something during his time off. He travels from Dudelange to Manscheid, a town. Manscheid and his boss contact his cell to inform him that a dead body has been discovered in the woods nearby and advise him to for a closer look.

The overall setup and style are not novel; the small-town atmosphere is smoky and rural, outdoorsy background and local institutions that are accustomed to operating without external interference. Twelve episodes clocking at less than 30-minutes, Capitani is a soaring success and each episode ends with a dramatic cliffhanger. It’s a refreshing change in the pace of this type of serious European thriller.
