Based on the memoir of Mark Critch This Hour Has 22 Minutes Critch’s Son is described as a coming-of-age tale of his childhood during the 80s “using humor and self-deprecation to make friends and meet a tiny group of people in its small world.”
The show also features Colton Gobbo as Mark’s older brother, Mike Jr., and Sophia Powers and Mark Rivera as Mark’s classmates. As with the book the TV show follows young Mark’s healing, employing comedy and self-deprecating humor on the way to make connections with his family and friends in the remote region of Newfoundland.
This is the basis of Critch’s brand-new CBC comedy program, Creech’s Son, based on his memoir that is titled the same way about his life within St. John’s in the 1980s. The awkward teenager is trying to transcend the body language of the older in the young and find new friends thanks to his unique ability to entertain – a great Jerry Lewis imitation, anyone?
