Lucasfilm is preparing to launch a new television series that will follow the 1988 film about fantasy which starred film leading lady Warwick Davis reprising his title role. The actress will be replacing Cailee Spaeny, who was initially been selected to play the part, following an extensive casting process. The production company did not make any comments. Screenwriters are John Bickerstaff, Hannah Friedman, and Jonathan Kasdan.
The film Willow was written by Dolman after a story written by George Lucas, and starred Davis as a hesitant farmer, who takes a loose group of people on a mission to safeguard a baby from a cruel queen who is determined to destroy her. It featured a principal character that was small and rough with Warwick Davis as Willow. An aspiring sorcerer, she willfully takes on the responsibility of the adorable baby, Elora Danan, to be safe.
